AHA!!!!
I enjoyed this course so much!!!!! What I enjoyed most was the technologies that I had heard about and read about but not experienced yet. I have wanted to try blogging – now I have. I wanted to try using a wiki – now I have. I wanted to work some with avatars – now I have. These experiences are priceless. I am actually heading to a meeting with faculty to discuss the possible usage of e-portfolios for our psychology majors as a degree requirement in an upper level course. I am soooooo excited to go and share my knowledge and experiences with it.
I really could go on and on about the fun and knowledge I have gained. Oh, I almost forgot – my new favorite thing is the delicious bookmarking page!!! LOVE IT!! I have a bad habit of forgetting my USB and between delicious and googledocs I am working to not have to need it to do work from home. Most recently I saved some videos to delicious to use in class. I would have wasted time looking them up on YouTube had this wonderful bit of technology not been introduced to me in this class!!!
I was excited when I realized this was an 8 week course but not that it is over I actually wish we could do a few more. Call me crazy!!!!

Collecting weapons and tools for mass distribution of knowledge
Well, I currently teach this subject matter and I am always looking for ways to incorporate technology. The classes I teach are face to face with online components OR completely online. I love working with technology. Just this week I met with students doing a project for another topic and they are all using Googledocs!! I didn’t even tell them too. I was so happy. It served as a reminder not to be afraid to try out all because many times, these younger generations, know how to use the applications better that I. My expectations are always that not only will me students learn the course material but that they will also learn to use various forms of technology that will make them a better student, future teacher, psychologist or just a more knowledgeable individual.
For several years now I have viewed my teaching much differently. I spend lots of time trying to figure out what I can use, how I can use and training on different types of technologies that I can incorporate into the classroom. In a week or so I will be going to a faculty training session on using SoftChalk in Blackboard. I am VERY excited.
Having a teenage son who is VERY good with a computer and all other technology gadgets made me realize that if I wanted to continue to be an effective teacher when his generation came to college the I better step up my game!!! He is only 16 but his generation is already here. So far I think I am keeping up fairly well and thanks to the ETEC classes I have taken I feel like I’m ready for war, so to speak. I have all kinds of tools and weapons to use and they will never know what hit them. :)
